Terry Zhao, Ph.D., is an associate professor of marketing in Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business and Management. He received his bachelor degree in economics and a master’s degree in marketing in China and holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of California, Irvine. Ten years ago, Dr. Zhao moved from Kansas to teach marketing at Loyola. When asked about what is special about learning marketing at Loyola, he says: “all the marketing professors are experts in their field who constantly publish innovative, high-impact research in leading marketing journals.” Dr. Zhao researches consumer behavior and psychology, advertising, branding, and social marketing; his teaching is “guided by a student-centric orientation to challenge, motivate, and inspire students” to develop the whole person in the Jesuit spirit of cura personalis. “All the marketing courses, experiential learning, and internships at Loyola prepare our students to be ready for exciting, challenging, and rewarding marketing careers,” says Dr. Zhao. Not only does he love teaching marketing to prepare students for their careers... he also notes that the dynamic and vibrant on-campus community makes Loyola a great place to teach. Dr. Zhao lives with his wife and two children in Ellicott City, Maryland, and he stays active through badminton, basketball, table tennis, and Tai Chi.
