Peer Tutoring

The Study鈥檚 peer tutoring program allows students to support each other in their academic studies. The goal of the program is to promote student independence while fostering mastery of the material. All peer tutoring is free for enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. All peer tutors have taken the courses they tutor and scored either an A or a B in them. Additionally, peer tutors are trained and certified Level 1 through the College Reading and Learning Association鈥檚 certified peer tutoring program.

Peer tutoring appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Students can receive two hours of peer tutoring per course each week. Any students needing additional time with a peer tutor should email the assistant director to request extra appointments. Students also have the option to book weekly appointments. They can pick a day and time with their peer tutors and then email The Study with that information and the courses. Student-athletes should register for peer tutoring on the SASS website, not through The Study.

Expectations for Tutoring

At Loyola, tutoring is a free service intended to help you develop your understanding of course material, practice skills used in class, and build your confidence as a student. To that end, our tutors can assist you with:

  • Reviewing concepts already covered in your classes
  • Completing practice exercises that will NOT be submitted for a grade
  • Creating study guides for tests and quizzes
  • Exploring new strategies for notetaking, time management, and more
  • Identifying additional resources and support

If you have any questions about the help that tutoring can offer, please contact The Study.
